Nurturing Talent in Rural Schools: IPDA–Goonj’s Skill Development Initiative

Updated: Dec 29, 2025

Our Integrated People’s Development Association (IPDA) NGO, in collaboration with Goonj, organized a school-to-school program in rural Government schools of Tiruvallur District to enhance students’ extra-curricular skills.

The program included painting, essay writing, drawing, speech, and Silambam competitions, benefiting around 250 students. These activities aimed to encourage creativity, confidence, and overall personality development among rural school children.

To further support their learning, we distributed handmade bags, four notebooks, pencil boxes, erasers, colour pencils, and mats to all participating students.

In order to create a strong impact and help children become high performers, a motivational class was conducted to guide them on exam preparation, stress management, and goal setting.

Our main objective is to improve students’ extra-curricular abilities and strengthen quality learning methods, including effective reading, memorization techniques, and best practices for scoring high marks across all subjects.
